London At A Glance: Day 3 & Day 4

Day 3: London

It was a lovely sunny day for us on our 3rd day. The weather in London is very unpredictable so we were lucky because a sunny day spells out a picture perfect!

Our first stop is the Buckingham Palace, the official residence for the royal family. When I saw the Palace, the first thing that came to my mind was Kate Middleton and Prince William. Aww... how I wish I had the luck to see them, even just for a glance!

The Palace is huge and the surrounding is flooded with tourists. If you have extra time, do walk around the park nearby the palace where there is a man-made lake and many ducks strolling around. Do not miss the guard changing ceremony as well which will start at 11.30am daily.

Directions to Buckingham Palace:
Take the metro Victoria Line, Piccadilly Line or Jubilee line to Green Park station.
Follow the signs that say exit to Green Park and then walk through the park to reach the palace.

After snapping lots of photos at the palace, we proceeded to the meal that we've been waiting and looking forward to: Maze by Gordon Ramsay.

Because Maze is located at a residential area near a small park, it took us some time to find the place. So, if you're having trouble locating the place like us, just out look for the entrance of Maze as seen from the above photo ;)

Lucky for us, we did reservation before going as the restaurant is full daily. The 4 courses meal are priced at £30, with a selection of glass wine available on request.

Eager girl is eager. We've never been to any Michelin star restaurant and thus very excited. Just thinking about it now makes me drool!

We ordered Duck and foie gras terrine, Crispy chicken thigh and many other delicacies. It was such a good meal for both of us and the price is very reasonable. Food was different to anything I have ever tasted and I enjoyed every mouthful. Highly recommended!

Sea trout tartare, pickled beetroot, dill, mandarin vinaigrette

Smoked mackerel, beetroot, horseradish, mandarin vinaigrette

Pork belly, razor clams, wasabi, Savoy cabbage, jalapeno and miso dressing

Braised beef feather blade, pomme purée, shimiji mushrooms, togarashi spice

Dessert

Directions to Maze Gordon Ramsay:
Take the metro Central Line or Jubilee Line to Bond Street station.
The address of Maze: 10 - 13 Grosvenor Square and here's a user friendly map to Maze.

Next up, we went to visit the tower bridge. It reminds me of the Hong Kong drama "Triumph in the Skies 2" where many of the scenes was shot here. We just love walking around here and enjoying the view.

Directions to Tower Bridge:
Take the metro Circle Line or District Line to Tower Hill station.
Walk towards south to Tower Bridge.

Later at night we went back to the London Eye for our capsule ride.We bought the tickets from http://www.londoneye.com/TicketsAndPrices/, £35 for two adults and made a reservation for the capsule ride at 8pm. You may also purchase other attraction tickets around London Eye such as the river cruise, Madame Tussauds, London Dungeon and also if you want, a private capsule from the website mentioned.

It was a cold rainy night but nothing could stop us from enjoying the beautiful sight before us. Up we go on the capsule!

It's a wonderful 30 minutes of experience that took us high up with an incomparable view and vantage point. Up here, we can see the Big Ben and other landmarks across the river. Not to be missed, the capsule is huge too, with loads of walking room in each spacious pod making it a fascinating visit.

The beautiful London Eye

Day 4: London to Paris

We packed our bags and get ready to the Eurostar station to leave for Paris. We booked our train ticket for €97 via http://www.eurostar.com/.

I felt sad when we have to leave London. There are so many places I still wanted to visit; the museum, Oxford city and more shopping! Will see you again London.

Next post up will be all about Paris. Paris, je t'aime!
